What does it mean to be a "member"?There are two types of members here on The Construction Collaborative: Members - are people who have created a free account on the site, which creates a personal "member's page" and provides the ability to comment on articles and interact with other Members through the discussion forum and in-site chat. Premium Members - are people who have purchased a paid subscription (monthly or annual) on the site, which adds access to premium content in articles, downloadable materials, on-line courses and assessments, and videos. New content is added each month.
-
Where should I start if I am new to the community? The very first thing you should do when you arrive is complete your profile. You can add a picture, tell everyone about yourself, even add a video. This will help you connect with people you want to follow, and it will help others find you. Start by clicking here to go to your profile page. After your profile is set up, make sure to visit this post from your host for a check list of what to do next.
-
Can I control who can view my profile? No. This is a networking site, a community of peers that are looking to connect. Your basic profile information is visible to all other subscribing members. We don't sell or share this data with any outside entitiy, but all subscribers have access to the member listing pages and profiles. If you are having an issue with another member, please let us know!
-
Can I use # tags and @ mentions in my posts?Yes! The community forum supports hashtags (#) and @ mentions. In the body of your post, you can add a hastag followed by a keyword (no spaces) to create a tag. Once you publish your post, this will show up as a clickable hyperlink. Clicking on the link will return search results with other posts that contain the same hastags. You can also @mention another member to call their attention to your post. Simply type @ and begin typing the member's name (no spaces) and select the member from the dropdown list. Once you publish your post, they will recieve a notification and their name will appear as a link to their profile in the post.
-
Can I add photos and videos to my posts?Yes! The post editor contains the ability to add photos and videos, as well as rich text formating like bullet points and lists. To add a photo or video, create an empty line in your post and hover over that space. Click the + symbol and select the item type that you want to insert. To format text, simply highlight the text and a formating menu will appear.
-
Chat I chat directly with other community members?Yes! We have a direct messaging feature built right in to The Construction Collaborative.
