Use a Drawing Log to Work with "Sets" in Bluebeam for the iPad

One of the most common complaints about Bluebeam for the iPad is that the application does not handle the "sets" created using Bluebeam Revu on desktop. This is sorely missed feature because splitting large construction drawings (blueprints) that contain numerous pages into individual files (one page per file), and then recombining them into a Bluebeam "Set" is the most efficient way to work with them. This makes tracking and slipsheeting revisions much more efficient, and it avoids the problem of loading large files when you really only need to look at a few sheets.

The problem is that Bluebeam for the iPad (which is a great field application) does not recognize the "Sets" file. You can work around this by creating a Drawing Log every time you update the "Set" in Revu on the desktop. This can be done automatically any time you update a "Set" (add sheets or slipsheet revisions), and then the resulting log can be stored in a Bluebeam Project.

A Drawing Log contains a list of all sheets in a Set and includes a column that indicates which revision is current. The sheet names are all hyperlinked to their file which is also stored in a Studio Project. Again, you can have this Drawing Log file updated automatically each time you update a Set.

Create a dashboard that contains a button for the Drawing Log, and you have a functional way to quickly browse your "Sets" from the iPad version of Bluebeam Revu. See how in the video below.
